Recreation Services

Taylor is home to many popular recreation facilities for children and adults alike. In fact, there are few communities the size of Taylor that can compete with the award winning facilities that we offer.

First and foremost there is the District Ice Center. An award-winning facility that has a full sized hockey rink and a smaller leisure ice center that is popular with the kids. As well, in 2004 an indoor playground was added to the facility to accommodate kids of all ages. During summer shut down, this facility is utilized for roller hockey and a variety of dry floor events such as consumer trade shows and various special events.

There is a curling center with four curling sheets. This facility doubles as a swimming pool in the summer as the District sets up a regulation sized 25 meter above ground pool during the months of May to September. In December of 2001, a brand new Community Hall was opened that can seat up to 450 people for community events. This facility was designed and built to the same standard as a full sized secondary school gymnasium.

The Lone Wolf Golf Club was opened in 1995 and offers the golfer every amenity. Four baseball diamonds, several community parks, tennis courts, and the Motocross and stock car tracks, which are run by private clubs, augments these facilities. These facilities, the staff and organizations that operate them add substantially to the quality of life in Taylor.

The facilities are supported by residents throughout the Peace Region because of their high quality. It is estimated that up to 60 per cent of the usage of our facilities come from residents outside our community boundaries. As a community, we are proud to contribute to the region in this manner. Taylor really is a community that cares!
