Peace Island ParkPeace Island Park is a natural wonderland located on the banks of the Peace River, which is open from May to September.

The campground offers 39 large, well shaded camping spots, picnic areas, a water pump, playground, 8 horseshoe pits, cook shelter, fire pits and firewood. In 2005 an expansion area was opened with an additional 60 camping spots (serviced and non-serviced), new playground, Rocky Mountain Ranger Forts, walking trails and access to the boat launch. Peace Island Park is located one kilometre west from the southwest side of the Peace River Bridge. For more information, contact the park at 789-9295.

Many family orientated events take place at Peace Island Park as it is a great venue. Come join in the fun every August Long Weekend for the annual World's Invitational Gold Panning Championships. In January, don't miss the Taylor Sled Dog Races. For more information on these events and more call the Community Services Department at (250)789-3333.

During the winter months when the snow is plentiful, the Peace Island Park Trail System is groomed for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and dog sledding. There is no better way to spend a couple hours of your day than with the clean, clear, crisp air at your face while you travel the trails.

The park is managed by resident caretakers who handle all park bookings. Camping fees are $15.00 per unit per night for non-serviced sites and $20.00 for serviced sites. Reservations can be made for individual sites, group sites, the cookhouse and open areas. Fees range from $10 - $50.

Peace Boat Launch

The boat launch, on the Peace River, is located on the southwest side of the Peace River Bridge. Be prepared, river boating is for the experienced boater. The river contains very swift currents, sandbars and floating wood debris. Always exercise extreme caution when you are on the river! The river provides many opportunities for fishing, sight seeing or wildlife viewing. The scenery both up and down river is incredible. Chances are you'll see beaver, deer, bald eagles and maybe even a bear or two.
