Recreation Services - District Ice Centre
The District Ice Centre held its official Grand Opening on March 14th, 1993. This first class facility that includes two separate ice surfaces and a play centre is fun for the whole family. Winner of the Bill Woycik Memorial Outstanding Facility Award from the Recreation Facilities Association of BC in 1994 as well as the Municipal Energy Efficiency Regional Award from BC Hydro in 1993, the Taylor District Ice Centre is the perfect venue for a variety of events.
Designed with two ice surfaces; the larger Main Ice surface and the attached smaller Leisure Ice surface allow for multiple users. The facility boasts four large dressing rooms with showers and washrooms, bleacher seating for 550 spectators under climate controlled heaters and dehumidifiers and a building capacity of 1600. In addition, the building is designed with superior acoustic panelling, excellent lighting and ample electrical supply. A children's Play Centre provides additional entertainment for the children that are not on the ice. A spacious lobby, concession and concourse make visiting the Ice Centre a pleasure. There is ample parking in the direct vicinity of the Ice Centre and special need accessibility.
The District Ice Centre has ice from August to the end of April. Ice users include such groups as Taylor Minor Hockey, Peace Passage Skating, Recreation Hockey leagues and many more from in and around the Peace Region. During the dry floor season (generally May through July), this multipurpose facility may be rented for a variety of events such as the following:
