Recreation Services - Lone Wolf Golf Club

The "Pride of the Peace" is really the only way to describe the Lone Wolf Golf Club. Constructed in 1993, the Lone Wolf Golf Club held their Grand Opening Celebrations in July 1995. The 18-hole par 72 championship course is located in the northeast corner of Taylor, against the hills. It is 7141 yards in length from the championship tees and contains a mix of challenging long par 5’s and interesting par 3’s.

The immaculately conditioned course has been designed to be challenging for the expert, while enjoyable for the average and casual golfer. The length and degree of difficulty can be varied with several tees on each hole and 86 sand bunkers.

With its traditional northwest winds, this hidden gem will provide a relaxing and enjoyable time for everyone. Nestled in a valley, it is not uncommon for golfers to see moose, deer, eagles and elk while playing the course.

Club amenities include a licensed clubhouse facility with lounge/restaurant area, heated driving range, practice greens, pro shop, change rooms and an outdoor deck and barbecue area. Power cars and equipment rentals are available as are golf lessons with our CPGA Professional. In addition the course is surrounded by a 3.9 km participation trail.

Very reasonably priced club memberships are available and bookings are accepted for tournaments. Clubhouse rentals can also be made and Christmas parties are a specialty.

The golf course is run by the municipality and is open to members and non-members alike. For further information contact Glen Cross, General Manager at 789-3711.

Participation Trail

If you are not a golfer, you may wish to take advantage of another facility that is unique to our region. A partially paved 3.9 kilometre participation trail meanders around and encompasses the Lone Wolf Golf Club. Open to joggers, walkers and cyclists, the trail is also accessible to those in wheelchairs or baby strollers except for the unpaved ravine section at the far end of the trail. It is just perfect for the walking enthusiast.

Being adjacent to farmland, the golf course and the coulee, tree area provides a perfect setting for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Sightings of deer, moose, foxes and even the occasional black bear are commonplace. In addition, throughout the nature walk through the coulee, there are numerous types of wildflowers, shrubs and vegetation to observe or photograph.

Spaced along the trail are a number of seating areas and picnic tables for your convenience. Take a minute to rest, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet that such a beautiful setting provides.

Fishing in the pond / Skating on the pond

For those that are a bit more adventurous and want to get outside skating on the golf course ponds is a popular activity for some. For others that like the thrill of ice fishing the District allows limited ice fishing for stocked rainbows in our large golf course pond- with some fish up to 4 lbs being taken. Just think of the thrill on the face of your young son or daughter if they hook into a fish of this size.
